The aim of the lecture is to present the history of selected archival institutions in the world, including the Vatican Archives and the Österreichisches Staatsarchiv in Wien. The main issues related to the history of archives in Poland will also be discussed, with particular emphasis on the formation of registrarships and archives in the era of entry books, records of activities and case files. The development of the Crown and Lithuanian Metrics, characteristic registrarships - archives of the Old Polish era will be presented. The development of historical archives in the era of the French Revolution will be presented. Particular emphasis will be placed on the development of the archival network in the Polish territories in the three partitions, the development of a modern archival system in interwar Poland. The problem of rebuilding the archival network after World War II, changes in archival legislation will be presented. The problems of Polish archival science after 1989 will be discussed, with particular emphasis on the problems of electronic registry, separate archives. Students will also become familiar with selected solutions shaping legislation and the archival network around the world.
