The primary objective of the classes is to provide both knowledge and skills in the field of crisis intervention basics: crisis recognition and assessment (including developmental crises, but also domestic violence, critical events and disasters), estimation of basic human resources (communication methods, decision-making styles) and strategies for providing assistance and intervention, in the model of working with a family experiencing various types of crises. During the classes, both the individual work model and the impact in the community aimed at all activities in the area of intervention for the family experiencing crisis will be analyzed. The classes also aim to improve the basic communication skills of participants, understand the mechanisms of interpersonal conflicts, identify the causes of difficulties in dealing with them.

Learning outcomes
The student has in-depth and structured knowledge of psychological crisis with particular emphasis on family crises, terminology used in crisis intervention, principles of planning and conducting crisis intervention. The student has in-depth knowledge and understanding of the role of a social worker working with a family in crisis. The student has in-depth knowledge and understanding of the methods of planning and conducting crisis intervention in the family environment. The student has in-depth skills in using interdisciplinary knowledge to conduct individual and environmental diagnosis and design individual and systemic assistance and intervention activities. The student is able to design group and individual intervention activities based on known principles and methods of crisis intervention. The student is able to work in a team, cooperate with children and young people, teachers, specialists, parents and guardians of the charges. The student is able to analyze their own intervention, care and support activities, indicate areas requiring modification, experimentation and implementation of innovative activities. The student is able to use knowledge in an innovative way in the field of systemic and organizational factors and activities (planning, implementation and evaluation) constituting the functioning of crisis intervention and support for families requiring help. The student is ready to communicate and cooperate with entities participating in intervention and assistance activities for the family. The student has the competence to actively communicate with people in crisis.
Assessment criteria
Colloquium: Written final paper Project/Projects: Arithmetic mean of partial grades. 75% of absences from classes result in failing the course, the remaining absences require passing in the form of individual tasks. To receive a pass, the student must obtain a positive grade for each element subject to assessment.
