Due to the language chosen, the topics of classes will oscillate mainly around broadly understood issues from the history and culture of England/Great Britain/British Isles/British Empire. During the classes, the student will have the opportunity to learn not only about the history of selected, outstanding historical figures from the british past, but also about the issues related to the history of great metropolises (London, Belfast, Singapore), british everyday life (including the history of the Thames, transport or football) and British Royal and national pomp and circumstance.

It is through these inventions that humanity has refined its skills, simplified daily life, and pushed the boundaries of knowledge for centuries. Each discovery, regardless of its field, stands as a testament to human ingenuity and the ability to turn dreams into reality. This course will not only trace the evolution of key inventions but also examine their impact on society, the economy, and human thought throughout history. |
Term 2025/2026-L:
This course explores the multifaceted cultural heritage of Poland, including religion, myths and legends, folklore, art, literature, noble traditions, and contemporary popular culture. Students will study the role of religion in social life, the significance of myths and legends in shaping identity, the richness of folklore and folk art, and the importance of linguistic and literary heritage. The course also examines noble traditions, historical memory, and contemporary expressions of culture such as film, music, games, and historical reenactments. |

Student:

E_4. observes and makes interpretations of contemporary historical and political processes related to the discussed subjects.
Assessment criteria
M_1. Multimedia presentations, fragments of movies/ videos
M_2. Substantive conversations on the discused subjects and literature provided
W_1. Attendance at classes (2 unexcused absences are allowed)
W_2. Continuous assessment and student's activity in class (including presentations on a given subject).
W_3. Oral exam.
