During the doctoral seminar, the doctoral student, under the supervision of the advisor, prepares a doctoral dissertation, develops their methodological expertise in the discipline of history, and simultaneously presents the results of their research within the academic community through participation in conferences and the preparation of publications.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands
K_W01 to an advanced degree, the doctoral student possesses structured and theoretically grounded knowledge of historical facts, phenomena, and processes.
K_W03 to an advanced degree, the doctoral student knows the theories and methods explaining the specificity and interrelations of complex historical processes.
K_W04 to an advanced degree, the doctoral student is familiar with the main developmental trends in historical studies.
K_W05 to an advanced degree, the doctoral student knows the subject-specific and methodological characteristics of the humanities, their latest achievements, and transdisciplinary directions of development.
K_W06 to an advanced degree, the doctoral student knows advanced methods of analyzing and interpreting historical events and processes, developmental trends, theories, and research schools characteristic of the discipline of history.
K_W08 to an advanced degree, the doctoral student knows historiographical paradigms used to explain the past and to address the fundamental problems of contemporary civilization.
Skills: while preparing the dissertation, the doctoral student is able to:
K_U01 formulate and analyze complex and non-standard problems related to historical research that require the integration of knowledge from various humanities disciplines.
K_U02 independently select, collect, and analyze diverse historical sources appropriate to the subject of the doctoral dissertation; apply analysis and synthesis in historical narrative, as well as all other available methods necessary for constructing a doctoral dissertation.
K_U03 use acquired knowledge to formulate and test hypotheses and to seek innovative solutions to complex problems typical of historical research.
K_U04 communicate on specialist topics related to historical research and, more broadly, humanities research with diverse groups of recipients.
K_U05 prepare conference papers and scholarly presentations within the broadly understood academic discourse; initiate and conduct debates by formulating original discussion problems, presenting, evaluating, and justifying various views concerning historical events, the specificity of historical processes, etc. The doctoral student is also able to participate in specialist academic discussion through scholarly publications.
Social competences: the graduate is ready to:
K_K01 critically evaluate their knowledge in the field of history and other humanities disciplines, as well as acquired content related to historical issues.
K_K02 recognize the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems, including those not directly related to the past.
K_K03 seek the opinions of experts specializing in particular historical subdisciplines or other fields of study when difficulties arise in independently solving a problem.
Assessment criteria
Work under the supervision of the advisor, academic discussion, and source-based and methodological analysis. The basis for completing each stage of education is the implementation of the research plan agreed upon with the advisor in accordance with the adopted schedule.
