(in Polish) Nowa jakość życia. Kazanie na górze (Mt 5-7) SzD-DNT>Nowjak
The Sermon on the Mount focuses on the term "righteousness," which in the Old Testament and Judaism defined the ideal of conduct. Matthew places it in a triple context, namely in relation to: one's neighbor (Mt 5:21-48), God (Mt 6:1-18), and material possessions (Mt 6:19-34). Chapter seven serves as an addendum related to righteousness and has a conclusive character. The relation to one's neighbor includes topics connected to the fifth, sixth, and eighth commandments. Moreover, it introduces a revolutionary thesis not to resist evil and emphasizes love for enemies, never before highlighted as by Jesus. Chapter six refers to basic religious practices in the Old Testament and Judaism in the time of Jesus, namely almsgiving, prayer, and fasting. Particular attention should be paid to the "Our Father" prayer, which constitutes the literary center of the entire Sermon on the Mount. In contrast, the references to material possessions draw attention to their temporary, fleeting nature and warn against mammon as a competitor. Particular attention should be paid to the prayer "Our Father," which constitutes the literary center of the entire Sermon on the Mount. References to material things, on the other hand, draw attention to their temporary, fleeting nature and warn against money as a competing, personified power in relation to faith. In the sixth chapter, Matthew also emphasizes the love and care of God the Father in the daily life of a Christian. Chapter seven warns against making judgments, refers again to prayer, and emphasizes the necessity of fulfilling God's will. The entire Sermon is introduced by beatitudes, that is, proclamations concerning happiness also in the present age.
