The course demonstrates how faith and reason mutually condition and define one another; it introduces the most important schools and paradigms of hermeneutics, from ancient Greek philosophy through the Middle Ages to the modern era, and particularly to the recent past; it also focuses on the universal component of hermeneutical thinking

Term 2025/2026-Z:
The main problems of theological hermeneutics will be presented, as well as the contemporary challenges facing both theological and philosophical hermeneutics. Attention will be drawn to the relationship between theological and philosophical hermeneutics, and to the specific nature of theological cognition, its sources and dynamics. Various paradigms of theological hermeneutics will be listed and compared. The classical hermeneutical schools that have had a significant influence on contemporary theological thought will be discussed. The development of the hermeneutical approach will be reconstructed within a historical and ideological context. |
