Ways of Christian Prayer T-SJ>mon22/23-Z-6
The present lecture undertakes the question of Christian prayer in order to show its meaning, richness of forms, etc. Also an answer to the question how to pray in the contemporary world is searched for.
The lecture consists of following parts:
1.General theology of prayer;
Christian prayer in the entire spiritual life;
Prayer as a personal relationship.
2. The ways of Christian prayer:
oral prayer,
meditation,
the issue of contemplation: acquired contemplation, infused (mystical) contemplation;
the experience of prayer in the spirituality of the Desert in the contemporary world;
Various expressions of prayer: silence, solitude, suffering, dance.
3. The role of art in Christian Prayer.
4. Selected masters of Christian prayer.

A student has a well-ordered, deepened, particular theological knowledge, allowing him or her to specialise in this matter;

Assessment criteria
2 essays prepared in connection with the lecture. Each of them should count 5.000 characters (with spaces etc.) minimum. The deadlines for submission will be co-ordinated during the first meeting of a group.
An exemplar topic: Impediments to Prayer.
Learning outcomes marked on the basis of the essays and on the whole student's work.
