Contemporary Phenomenology: Methods and Trends WF-SSF-IFK>wm2
The course presents the fundamental concepts, methods, and main lines of development of contemporary phenomenology. It discusses classical German phenomenology, its French reception, and key thematic areas such as perception and the world, existence and intersubjectivity, hermeneutics, embodiment, and donation. The course concludes with an analysis of the so-called erotic turn as one of the significant trends in contemporary phenomenology.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the doctoral student is familiar with the basic concepts and methods of contemporary phenomenology and its main lines of development. The student understands the specificity of the French reception of phenomenology and is able to situate selected approaches within their problem-oriented context. The student is able to critically analyze phenomenological texts and to use phenomenological concepts in independent philosophical research.
Assessment criteria
Assessment is based on a written paper (approx. 5 pages) devoted to a selected problem, author, or concept discussed during the course. The paper is evaluated with regard to conceptual clarity, accuracy of interpretation, and the ability to conduct independent philosophical analysis.
