Learning outcomes
In terms of knowledge, the graduate knows and understands:
- basics of the philosophy of education and pedagogical axiology, the specificity of the main educational environments and processes taking place in them;
- classical and contemporary theories of human development, upbringing, learning and teaching or education and their application values;
- the role of the teacher or educator in modelling attitudes and behaviour of students;
- standards, procedures and good practices applied in pedagogical activity;
- the issue of inclusive education, as well as the ways of implementing the principle of inclusion;
- diversifying the educational needs of students and the resulting tasks of the school regarding the adaptation of the organization of the educational and upbringing process;
- ways of designing and conducting diagnostic activities in pedagogical practice;
- structure and functions of the education system - goals, legal basis, organisation and functioning of educational, upbringing and care institutions, as well as alternative forms of education;
- legal basis of the education system necessary for the proper implementation of educational activities;
- rights of children and people with disabilities;
- the principles of occupational health and safety in educational and care institutions and the teacher's legal responsibility in this regard as well as the principles of first aid;
- processes of interpersonal and social communication as well as their regularity and disturbance;
- basics of functioning and pathologies of the speech apparatus, principles of voice emission, basics of the functioning of the organ of sight and balance;
- teaching content and the typical difficulties of students in mastering them;
- methods of teaching and selecting effective teaching resources, including online resources, supporting teaching the subject or conducting classes, taking into account the diverse educational needs of students;
In terms of skills, the graduate is able to:
- observe pedagogical situations and events, analyse them with the use of pedagogical and psychological knowledge and propose solutions to problems;
- adequately select, create and adapt materials and resources to the diverse needs of students, including the field of information and communication technology and work methods in order to independently design and effectively implement pedagogical, didactic, educational and care activities;
- recognize the needs, abilities, talents of students and design and carry out activities supporting the integral development of students, their activity and participation in the process of education and upbringing as well as in social life.
- design and implement teaching programmes taking into account the diverse educational needs of students;
- design and implement educational and preventive programmes in the field of content and educational and preventive activities addressed to students, their parents or guardians and teachers;
- create educational and didactic situations that motivate students to learn and work on themselves, analyse their effectiveness and modify activities in order to achieve the desired effects of upbringing and education;
- undertake work with students by awakening their interests and developing their talents, properly select the content of teaching, tasks and forms of work as part of self-education and promote students’ achievements;
- develop students' creativity and ability to think critically and independently;
- effectively animate and monitor the implementation of team educational activities of students;
- use the assessment and feedback process to stimulate students in their work on their own development;
- monitor students' progress, activity and participation in the school social life;
- work with children with special educational needs, including children with adaptation difficulties related to the migration experience, from culturally diverse environments or with limited knowledge of the Polish language;
- responsibly organise the school and out-of-school work, respecting the student's right to rest;
- effectively implement activities supporting students in making conscious and responsible educational and professional decisions;
- use the Polish language correctly and use the terminology of the subject correctly and adequately to the age of the students;
- use the speech apparatus in accordance with the rules of voice emission;
- provide first aid;
- develop independently the pedagogical knowledge and skills using various sources derived from foreign languages and technologies;
In terms of social competences, the graduate is ready to:
- use universal ethical principles and norms in the professional activity guided by the respect for every human being;
- build a relationship based on mutual trust between all subjects of the upbringing and education process, including students' parents or guardians and involving them in activities promoting educational effectiveness;
- communicate with people from different backgrounds and of different emotional conditions, resolve conflicts in a dialogical way and create a good atmosphere for communication in the classroom and outside it;
- make decisions related to the organisation of the educational process in inclusive education;
- recognise the specificity of the local environment and undertake cooperation for the benefit of students and this environment;
- design activities aimed at the development of a school or educational system facility and stimulating the improvement of the quality of work of these institutions;
- work in a team, fulfilling different roles in it and cooperating with teachers, educators, specialists, parents or guardians of students and other members of the school and local community.
