Professional status:

A graduate of the second cycle studies received a professional MA education in journalism and social communication enriched with a planned specialisation in the field of specialised journalism, the media and journalism education and public relations. A graduate is prepared for the job of a journalist working in the periodical mass media (press, radio, television, the Internet) and for the work in the broad field of the media, social communication and the media education: in public relations agencies, advertising agencies, departments of promotion, news agencies, web portals and in institutions of education and animation of the media culture. A graduate possesses the knowledge of the media world sufficient to perform a job of a journalist, editor and columnist responsibly and individually, as well as to lead and manage editorial and the media projects. They also know multiple responsibilities of those professions and contexts of communicative action in the media world. A graduate also possesses a knowledge enabling them to lead and manage media institutions, both in an individual dimension (editorial and communication teams) as well as in larger organisational structures. A graduate knows and understands development trends of the contemporary media and their role in various aspects of functioning of the modern information society. A graduate is able to perform, with engagement and professionalism, a role of a journalist and social messenger as a profession of public trust. A graduate possesses a knowledge and skills enabling them to make independent decisions in crisis situations and solving difficult professional problems. A graduate understands basic and detailed processes of political, social, economic and cultural life, both in a local-regional and national-international dimension. They have a knowledge and skills sufficient to understand and explain the meaning of the mass media in life and functioning of the modern information society. A graduate gained skills enabling them to perform various jobs connected with a widely comprehended area of social communication – in public relations, advertising, promotion, the media education institutions and acquired an appropriate ethical formation to responsibly conduct any professional duties in the field of the media and social communication. A graduate knows two foreign languages at a level of proficiency according to the standards of the second cycle studies and has a good command of a specialist language necessary to work in the field of journalism and social communication. A graduate got methodological preparation to carry out theoretical and practical research works in the area of the media. They are also prepared for future scientific research and professional activities corresponding to a level of a professional title of the Master of Arts. The acquired knowledge, skills and competences were confirmed by a research project prepared and implemented in a Master's thesis. A graduate is prepared to start the third cycle studies, especially in the area of “media sciences”.
