Professional status:
A graduate of the second-cycle (MA) programme in Specialised Journalism and Media Studies holds advanced academic and professional qualifications that enable them to work across the media, education, cultural and research sectors. The programme focuses on developing journalistic competencies in specialised areas such as sports journalism, music journalism, investigative reporting, cultural journalism or science communication. This allows the graduate to work as a specialised journalist, editorial contributor in niche fields, or a critic (e.g. music, theatre, film). The graduate is able to independently create high-quality journalistic content tailored to various formats — print, radio, television, and digital media — as well as produce materials for modern communication platforms such as podcasts, vlogs and social media. Thanks to technical and workshop-based skills developed during the programme, the graduate is proficient in using tools for recording, editing, and producing audiovisual content, making them well-prepared for roles in digital media and creative industries. In the field of media studies, the graduate acquires theoretical knowledge and research competencies necessary to analyse media structures, language, and their social and cultural functions. They are capable of conducting academic research, preparing expert analyses, and working as media analysts or communication specialists. The graduate is also well-prepared to continue their academic career in the field of media studies, including at doctoral level.
