• acquire the skills necessary to work as a journalist (press, radio, television, internet),
• learn about the principles of contemporary media;
• confront theoretical knowledge with the real working environment;
• improve their communication skills and social competence,
• apply ethical standards of work as a journalist and PR specialist;
• work in editorial offices, media agencies, production and educational institutions.
The scope of the internship includes, among others:
• preparation of journalistic materials (text, audio, video);
• production and editing of multimedia materials;
• participation in press conferences, briefings, and public events;
• co-creation of information, PR, and promotional campaigns;
• participation in editorial teams (planning, research, fact-checking);
• practicing organizational and logistical skills in the media;
The internship develops social skills: teamwork, responsibility, consistency, interpersonal communication.

Efekty kształcenia
Knowledge – the student knows and understands:
W1. the principles of the functioning of the media system and social communication institutions;
W2. the specifics of journalism and PR professions and the ethical standards associated with them;
W3. the processes of production and distribution of media content, including in new technologies.
Skills – the student is able to:
U1. search for, analyze, and compile information for the purpose of preparing journalistic materials;
U2. prepare text, audio recordings, video materials, and multimedia content in accordance with professional standards;
U3. plan, organize, and carry out tasks in an editorial office or media institution;
U4. use social communication tools, including social media, in information and promotional activities;
U5. act in accordance with the principles of professional ethics, responsibly and reliably.
Social competences – the student is ready to:
K1. work in a team and cooperate in a media environment;
K2. take responsibility for their actions;
K3. critically evaluate media content and their own work;
K4. comply with the principles of confidentiality, information security, and communication standards.
Kryteria oceniania
Assessment methods:
• verification of the completeness of documents specified in the Regulations for student internships;
• assessment and opinion of the institution where the student completed the internship.
Grading scale: 5.0–3.0 / 2.0 (fail).
A grade of 2.0 results in failure of the semester.
Praktyki zawodowe
Professional practice is an integral part of the education process in the Journalism and Social Communication program and comprises 480 teaching hours.
The practice takes place:
• in media institutions (press, radio, television, internet portals);
• in PR, marketing, and advertising agencies;
• in institutions dealing with media education, media logistics, and audiovisual production;
• at the Academic Media Center of the UPJPII (part of the hours must be completed there).
Students represent the University and are required to adhere to ethical standards and principles of professionalism.
Literatura
Documents required for credit in accordance with the Regulations for Student Internships in Journalism and Social Communication and the Regulations for Studies at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow.
