Inter-Religious Dialogue for Journalism DIKS-SM>IntDia
Interfaith dialogue is becoming an increasingly popular practice in the 21st century as a way to peace-fuly achieve understanding, respect and reconciliation. Multicultural societies need people in a whole range of contexts able to think through the issues that arise in a situation of modern religious pluralism. Krakow, with its Jewish heritage not to mention its huge Catholic heritage, offers a unique setting for reflection on the issues connected with interfaith dialogue. The course utilizes the evolution of Christian-Jewish relations in the community of Krakow as an extended case study. How have Jewish and Christian communities worked together to combat media narratives and inherited stereotypes? What was the impact of global/national events on local reconciliation? The course will explore the theory and practice of interfaith dialogue and the different forms of dialogue, as well as to raise a question of how future media could be an effective conflict manager.
During the course students will participate in outings to Kazimierz - Jewish district of Krakow, KL Plaszów Concentration Camps and Schindler’s Factory Museum in Krakow.
