The following topics will be dealt with:
1. Medieval world image (C.S. Lewis): Philosophical vs common world view
2. Contemporary world image (M. Heller): scientific vs philosophical world view
3. Meta-theoretical aspects of the category of the world image (semantic, epistemological, ontological, historiographical, social, cognitive):
– Elements of the world image & their sources (all texts).
– Language as a conveyor or bearer of the world image (all texts).
– Theory of the world image changes & revolutions (esp. Kuhn)
– Nature vs nurture in creating the world image (esp. Barrett)
– The problem of relativism of world images (all texts).
– Is our world image a prison in a Pickwickian sense? (esp. Popper)
– Is the world image truth-bearer or not? (esp. Lewis)
– The status of the category of the world image.
4. the Interplay of common, religious, scientific and philosophical Worldviews. (esp. Liana).
